Hello Equestria, Welcome to My Little Analysis: Scrutiny is Magic!

My Little Analysis: Scrutiny is Magic
My Little Analysis: Scrutiny is Magic

This blog analyzes details from the television show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic developed by Lauren Faust, produced by DHX Media, broadcast on The Hub, and owned by Hasbro. Friendship is Magic is the fourth generation reboot of the My Little Pony franchise which has become an Internet Phenomenon among adults men and women known as Bronies in addition to it's intended target demographic group of young girls.

The reasons for it's wide success is attributed to the high level of production quality in it's writing, design, animation, attention to detail, depth, characterization, voice acting, music, tone, and humor. Also, the Brony fandom generates a staggering amount of memes, artwork, comics, music, animated videos, fan fiction, games, plushies, custom merchandise, fund raising for charities, discussions, and enthusiasm relating to the show which has highly added to the shows success as well. So much so that every level of Hasbro, The Hub, and especially DHX Media took notice and has accepted and embraced the fandom.

The relationship between the producers of the show and the fandom are so tight, that the distinction has become blurred. Many of the episodes and advertisements contain "shout outs" to the Brony community, and the level of quality has been raised due to the wider audience. A large number of production staff and voice actors converse regularly with the fandom over social media and have become Bronies, supporters, and champions of the fandom themselves. Even some Bronies have been hired to of work on the show and officially licensed merchandise.

There are numerous conventions held specifically for the show, and MLP:FiM has even had a presence in large conventions such as ComicCon. Many of the voice actors, writers, animators, and other production staff have participated in the panels at these conventions and provided interviews to fan-run media networks that operate at near professional level quality.

It really has become unprecedented and unparalleled, for more in-depth information on the fandom's origins and growth, see the Know Your Meme entry covering this subculture.

The reason I created this blog is because I've seen much inspiring artwork, videos, comics, games, and such related to the show by the fandom. As an avid fan myself, I wish I could create such high quality creations to express my appreciation of the show and to give back to the Brony community. However I currently lack the skills and technique to draw anywhere remotely well.

A skill that I do possess though is Analytically thinking which comes from an education in Chemical Sciences, a career as an instrument analyst in that field, and a separate career as an insurance claims adjuster. I also have a keen interest in Science and Technology, and naturally have analytically tendencies in my personality. Perfect for MLP:FiM as it has so much detail, continuity, and consistency packed into the episodes. It may also be fortuitous that the fandom is largely weighted on the creative art side, and that I can contribute creatively to a less focused area of the fandom.

I'm also a secret Brony, I don't talk to anybody "in real life" about the show. I'm not ashamed of being a fan of the show, that would be a hidden or in-the-closet Brony, it's just that I don't know any other people into the show. Besides I think MLP:FiM has progress well past the point where it's questionable, it's greater than a meme and why should anybody be embarrass about liking a meme let alone a subculture. There was a time when Anime, Pixar, and DreamWorks style movies were thought to be exclusively for children, how the times have changed. Anyways, it's great getting to be able to share my thoughts about the episodes with people who know and have seen them.

Although the author(s) may claim otherwise, there is no best pony because they're all the best pony for different reasons, even Spike who is not technically a pony. But really, we all know Derpy Hooves is the best pony because she was the reason 4chan initially took notice and ponies spread like wildfire from there, eventually spreading to the rest of the Internet in a blaze of triumphant love and tolerance that never stopped and hopefully never will. The author does not take responsibility for the before mentioned fact because it is true, look it up, and if you still disagree you accept the responsibility to explain to Derpy why she is not the best pony here, you monster. The author admits he was just joking when he referred to you as a monster, bro-hoof.
